Facilities

The Thad Cochran National Warmwater Aquaculture Center (NWAC) facilities include an office building with 21 analytical labs (27,000 ft2), an aquarium building (6,000 ft2), a nutrition lab (8,000 ft2), a pathogen-free fish holding facility, numerous wet labs, a hatchery building, a load-out/sorting building, and an equipment storage compound. What makes the NWAC unique is its 257 ponds ranging from 0.1 to 11 acres. These ponds total 294 acres and allow researchers to take concepts tested in small ponds and validate them in commercial-size settings.
